Surname Kiley History
The name Kiley was first found in the southern part of Ireland, known as Waterford county where we had been seated from very ancient times. We are of the ancient kingdom of Ossory (Osraighe), conjecturally descended from the Kings and gentry of Ossory, the progenitor of which was Conla, the second son of Breasal Breac, King of Leinster, and descended to Ceallach who was ancester of Teige McGillpatrick.

Our name, Kiley, occurred in many different references, and from time to time the surname was spelt Keily, Keiley, Keilly, Kiley, Kily, Kiely, Kieley, Keeley, Keely, Queally, Quealy, O'Keily, O'Keilly, O'Kiely, O'Quelly, and these changes frequently occurred within the sept. It was not uncommon for a person to be born with one spelling, married with another, and have yet another at his wake.
